The Middlesex Family Fete – 15th July 2018
The Middlesex Family Fete is a popular annual event in the Middlesex Masonic calendar and this year, for the first time, we had a stand to promote the Orders of the Secret Monitor and the Scarlet Cord.
15th July was well into this year’s summer heat wave so it was already extremely hot while we were setting up the stand on the Sunday morning at the Royal Masonic Girls School in Rickmansworth.
The day began rather quietly but by midday the fete was at its peak although perhaps not as busy as in previous years, possibly because not only was it the same day as the annual Middlesex Secret Monitor & Scarlet Cord lunch cruise but it was also the
day of the Men’s’ singles tennis final at Wimbledon and the final match of the football World Cup in Russia!
By the end of the day we had distributed numerous leaflets and application forms and had signed up one candidate for Northwick Conclave as well as receiving interested responses from four other possible candidates, two of them for Northwick Conclave
and one each for Uxbridge and Riverside Conclaves. If our presence at the Fete brings five new members into the OSM Province it will have been well worth while!
We look forward to the Fete in 2019 when we hope to attract even more members into our Caring Orders.
The Middlesex stand was organised and staffed by Wy.Bro. Norman Mindel and
Wy.Bro. Peter Lawson who were also assisted by Bro. Peter Humphreys.Category: Uncategorized
